SLEEP APNEA TREATMENT

MAKING IT EASY TO SLEEP THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT

Many people may not realize it, but dentists are actually in a great position to treat sleep-related issues because of the condition’s relation to the jaw. Sleep apnea is one of the most common chronic conditions in the United States; however, it often goes undiagnosed because the symptoms are so difficult to notice. If you wake up with headaches often, you find it impossible to get a good night’s sleep or constantly wake up in the middle of the night, call our dental office to schedule a visit with Dr. Browning today to discuss sleep apnea treatment in Lewisville, TX!

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that develops when a patient experiences an obstruction in the mouth, such as the tongue, soft palate, or other oral structure. This form of sleep apnea is referred to as obstructive sleep apnea and it is the most common form of sleep apnea. As these blockages occur during sleep, it can cause people to snore very loudly and even choke and gasp for air, forcefully waking them up. This makes it impossible to get a full night’s sleep due to constant interruptions (or apneas) throughout the night.

How We Treat Sleep Apnea

When you arrive for your consultation, we will ask you detailed questions about your symptoms, current sleep habits, and gather other information to determine if sleep apnea is present. From there, we can pair you up with an ENT doctor for closer examination. If needed, an oral appliance can be created to shift your jaw, removing the blockage inside your mouth as you sleep. Our goal is to help you make sleeping easy once again, stop your current sleep apnea symptoms, and improve your quality of life.
